About The Company

Forthright was started in 2013 by Neil Marsh MCIPHE RP RHP EngTech in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. Since this time, Forthright has grown to become an established company in the area with a large customer base and has expanded into Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

Forthright’s vision is to become the leading example of professionalism and quality service provider with the industry. We feel that the overall quality of workmanship and customer service is poor in the plumbing and heating sector and wish to correct it.

Forthright’s core principles are honesty, value for money, professionalism and gaining consumer trust.

About Neil Marsh MCIPHE RP RHP EngTech – The Managing Director

Neil’s roots into the industry go back to when he was 13 years old. He started working for his friend’s family-owned company, Kenneth Maclean in the school holidays at what was at the time an up and coming Gas & Heating contracting company based in St Helens, Merseyside called Apollo Heating. Ken’s nephew, Shaun Maclean owned the company and brought in expert help, such as that of Ken’s to take the company to another level.

Once Neil left school, Ken, Shaun and other investors had grown Apollo Heating into a much larger company. They had secured significant social housing contracts around Manchester and Apollo Heating was a significant player in the area. Neil started his apprenticeship as a Gas Engineer at Apollo not long after leaving school.

Admittedly, Neil did not value this opportunity at the time, but as time moved on Neil has come to value the quality of his apprenticeship and his old-school way of training. Few apprentices then, especially nowadays, got the level of experience that was available to Neil throughout this period.

Neil progressed onto working for large companies such as Homeserve Servowarm and Connaught before relocating to Cheltenham, Gloucestershire back in the mid-2000s. Since his relocation, Neil worked for the energy provider Eon and Shackleton & Wintle and gained a magnitude of experience and skills before setting up Forthright. As of 2018, Neil now lives with his family in Herefordshire.

Neil has worked his way from the ground up, plumbing and heating are in his blood. Not only is he a City & Guild’s qualified gas engineer, but he also has formal plumbing qualifications and many other aspects that related to gas and heating. He is a certified engineer with the Engineering Council and is a registered engineer and plumber with the Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering.
