We Undertake Unvented Hot Water Installations & Replacements In Hereford
How unvented hot water cylinders are able to perform is what makes them desirable. They can perform exceptionally well, providing hot water at pressure to multiple hot outlets simultaneously if installed right.
However, there are many systems designed and installed poorly throughout Hereford, which are stopping these types of hot water systems from working as well as they could. In some instances, they are even performing very poorly.
With a well designed unvented hot water system, the user could run two to three typical showers at the same time without a negative impact on performance. By using more cylinders, equipment and careful design, large hot water systems can be installed to provide hot water to large numbers of outlets so long as there is enough space to install the equipment.
It is possible to make these systems perform well even when there are poor flow and pressure into the property. More complications will lead to higher costs and more complex systems. Accumulators, pumps, multiple cylinders and other equipment can be utilised to increase the performance of the hot water system within a property.

Unvented hot water systems need to be installed correctly and by somebody competent. Potentially, unvented cylinders can be hazardous when installed incorrectly.
The water inside unvented cylinders, due to faults with heating equipment, could boil and rapidly expand into steam. The rate of expansion from water to steam can lead to a steam gas explosion if the pressure and steam are not safely discharged from the cylinder. With correct installation, there are far too many layers of safety to allow this to happen. However, when these measures are bypassed due to poor installation, it is possible for unvented cylinders to explode or discharge high-pressure and high-temperature steam/water into unsafe locations.

“It is an absolute disgrace the number of unvented hot water cylinders I have witnessed first-hand that present a potential danger to the occupants within the properties I have attended. There are a lot of tradesmen out in the marketplace who should not be working with unvented systems.”
Frequently Asked Questions
There is none, these systems are only dangerous when installed incorrectly.
These systems can be complicated as they can use a lot more equipment than some other methods. However, they are generally very reliable with some maintenance.
How Unvented Hot Water Cylinders Work
Mains water is used to fill the unvented cylinder and provide it with pressure. Where flow or pressure is low due to supply issues, other equipment, such as pumps and accumulators can be used to boost performance.
A heat source, like a boiler, will be used to heat the water in the cylinder. This heated water is then stored within the cylinder until an outlet, such as a tap, is operated.
During use, hot water leaves the top of the cylinder and goes to the desired outlet. At the same time, cold mains water comes back into the cylinder to keep it full and maintains the operating pressure.
